“Empower YOUth” project aims to empower youth, from different vulnerable groups, such as the Roma, the refugees/asylum seekers/migrants, disabled youngsters, persons from the LGBTQ+ community or from disadvantaged/remote areas that live under the poverty line, to become leaders and actively bring a positive change within their communities. The project’s duration is 14 months, beginning in October 2022. The project touches upon all areas of support across the Active citizens fund Programme, including on the programme area specific on youth empowerment and inclusion. The project’s holistic approach aims to build confidence and provide the youth with stimuli and incentives to become active citizens, while aims to foster dialogue and collaboration across vulnerable groups. The goal is to empower participants to lead initiatives, positively influence their communities and work for a more inclusive society. These will be achieved through a series of trainings, activities with role-models, community small-scale activities and more.

The project “Empower YOUth” is implemented within the framework of the Active citizens fund by SolidarityNow in partnership with NorSensus Mediaforum.

The Active citizens fund in Greece is supported through a € 13.5 m grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway as part of the EEA Grants 2014 – 2021. The programme aims to develop the sustainability and capacity of the civil society sector in Greece, and to strengthen its role in promoting and safeguarding democratic procedures, active citizenship and human rights. The Fund Operator for the Active citizens fund in Greece is Bodossaki Foundation in consortium with SolidarityNow. More information: www.activecitizensfund.gr/en.
