Youth Media Literacy Express

Youth Media Literacy Express, mobility project funded by Active Citizens Fund - Romania opens new horizons for collaboartion between Norsensus Mediaforum, Fundatia Danis and other Romanian NGOs and entities in Cluj-Napoca.

The Youth Media Literacy Express project, developed as a partnership between Norsensus Mediaforum (Norway) and Fundatia Danis (Romania) aimed and succeeded to reach the following objectives:

  • Prepare for submitting an application in the field of media literacy for young people, for a donor partnership project under ACF Romania (call that will be launched in autumn 2019), together with our Romanian partner, Fundatia Danis.
  • Strengthen the cooperation with Fundatia Danis, but also build the base for other potential partners/stakeholders that could join the partnership project we will prepare.
  • Learn more about media and information literacy education done in Romania, both in the formal and the non-formal education sector, and share the Norwegian experience in the field.
  • Explore how we can transfer the international experience we gained in media and information literacy for young people, in current partnerships project we run with Fundatia Danis and other European partners, to the Romanian context.
  • Understand the needs and the assets of Fundatia Danis in order to develop its organizational capacity to deliver more and better MIL education programs.
  • Explore the development of e-learning methods in the field of media literacy for young people, which could enhance our involvement and support for MIL projects run for young people from Romania, in the future.

During this four-day mobility project, besides Fundatia Danis, we visited and met representatives of other NGOs, “Babeș-Bolyai” University, local companies and highschools, in order to learn more about media and information literacy education done in Romania, and young people’s civic and social initiatives. At the end of the project, supporting the main objectives of EEA Grants and ACF Romania, we agreed with our trustworthy partner to develop two project proposals to enhance young people’s media and information literacy, respectively to support Roma young people to engage more with their local communities. We envision that the two projects will be supported by the other stakeholders we visited during this project mobility, as full or associated partners.

The mobility project was run by Norsensus Mediaforum with the financial support of Active Citizens Fund - Romania, programme funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the Granturi SEE & Norvegiene
