Norsensus Mediaforum is a partner of the “Polish-Ukrainian Sisterhood” project implemented by the Polish non governmental organization Podkarpackie Association for Active Families (PSAR) under the Active Citizens-Regional Fund Programme.
The project is designed for two groups:
- Girls – aged 15 to 18 from Poland and Ukraine.
- Educators – professionals that work with girls aged 15-18 (i.e. teachers, trainers, tutors, or scout leaders).
Project Goals:
- Bring attention to discrimination and violence based on gender and nationality.
- Increase the ability to respond to aggressive behavior, harm, disrespect of boundaries, abuse, etc.
- Develop knowledge about the mechanisms of discrimination due to cultural differences and show the negative effects of discrimination on a society as a whole.
- In a practical way, teach project participants how to handle crisis situations, how to build dialogue based on democratic values, and how to support the most vulnerable groups.
Activities:
- Sister Festival (For Girls): – This will be an educational, interactive, open event for anyone that wants to come and learn more about the project and how to get involved.
- Workshops (For Girls and Educators) – Discussions and activities involving topics of race and gender based violence.
- Camp (For Girls and Educators) – A 7-day camp with highly qualified coaches to discuss anti-discrimination in the form of discussion panels, and practical exercises.
- Social Initiatives (For Educators) – Related to the subject of anti-discrimination and gender equality presented in the form of events for the local community (examples of initiatives: theater, film, photography, etc.)
- Social Campaigns (For Girls) – Creating films that encourage public dialogue on women’s rights.
Partner Role: Transfer of knowledge on the methods used in the area of anti-discrimination activities and substantive support as part of the project. The partner will be involved in the implementation of the social campaign, social initiatives, and will also be conducting workshops.
Project Objectives: Increasing knowledge on anti-discrimination, developing coping skills for difficult situations, building a network to create a safe space for affected children and teenagers, learning modern techniques for working with diverse groups of young people, and social initiatives to prevent and neutralize the harm resulting from discrimination.
The project is financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway from the EEA Funds under the Active Citizens – Regional Fund Programme.
