Norsensus Mediaforum attended to Youth on the Net Conference in Luxembourg
On the 8th and 9th of May, the second edition of the international conference «Youth in the Internet» took place in Luxembourg. As part of the campaign «Bee balanced» and following the motto «find your balance», more than 60 people came together from 32 European countries to plan new and innovative projects together. Among the participants, there were scientists, therapists, educators and representatives of leading media organizations in their home countries. Two representatives attended to the event from Norway; Sahar Azari from The Norwegian Children and Youth Council and Vedat Sevincer from Norsensus Mediaforum
The use of new information and communication technologies is steadily increasing among children. Smartphone and computers are a vital part of everyday life for many young people. In his opening speech Claude Meisch pointed, Minister for Education, Children and Youth, suggest that a problematic use of internet can not be measured solely in terms of quantity.
On the one hand, the Minister stressed that people must not forget the many benefits brought by the new media which has potential to strengthen the labor market and IT innovation.
The minister’s speech was followed by many interesting presentations and workshops with topics such as «Internet Risks», «the benefits of video games», «therapy practices in computer addiction» or «the impact of technology on youth culture» and many others. The international experts were able to captivate the audience and spark dynamic discussion. Through the duration of the conference, both professional opinions were exchanged and new insights for project exchanges were found.
